Day -46

I need to post something to make it look like I post a lot. So keeping with the theme of my last post, for funsies I decided to make another short list of the Korean celebrities I need to see/stalk/kidnap.

1. Cha Tae Hyun

I have mad respect for this guy. He seems to be the go-to guy for roles of the unfortunate and physically abused. But he does it so well that you have to love him for it. He's a terrific actor. I especially loved his performance in 바보 where he played a mentally challenged man who would do anything to take care of his little sister. So amazing. <3

2. Sandara Park

Imo, she's probably the most useless member of 2NE1, but it doesn't matter because she's the prettiest and I'm shallow like that. When I first saw her, her freaky hair creeped me out so much. It's kind of hard to believe that she's 26 years old. She looks like a teenager sometimes. Her wardrobe consists mainly of baggy tshirts, hair accessories to make her about 3 feet taller, and this ensemble.

nom nom nom nom

3. Kwon Sang Woo & Luke Kwon

What could be better than a cute baby and his good looking father? Not much. Luke has inherited some amazing genes.

4. Ji Jin Hee (as Cho Jae Hee)

I admit that I don't enjoy Korean dramas as much as the next UCI robot, but The Man Who Can't Get Married had me hooked last summer. It had me laughing the whole way through and it was because of Ji Jin Hee's character as Cho Jae Hee, a childish 40 year old architect who refuses to get married because he's too stubborn, OCD and socially awkward. You just have to appreciate a hilar character like him.

What an expert.

Day -51

Finally. My beloved Tae Yang finally released his Solar album after making us wait forever for it. Yeah, the one that supposed to come out like 6 months ago. Yeesh. The album is decent, but doesn't quite live up to the high expectations I had for it. I was expecting so much from him and one of the best parts of the album is Teddy's solo rap! What outrage! Maybe it just needs time to grow on me. But I'm still happy he has new material. I was getting worried that he'd start to fade in my mind and I'd lose interest in all his music.

nvm

He's totally Korea's golden boy for the American audience. He's got a cute smile, an even better body and a haircut that turns all boys here into biters. I remember I once saw his picture on my barber's table. And who can forget his beautiful sadface in Wedding Dress? I swear, that song came out and everyone and their mom was all over it. But seriously, who can blame them?

And if that's not enough, he's also the star of Big Bang to the American audience. Nobody here cares about whatstheirnames. Such a spotlight hog!

What other members??

He's great, but wayy too overrated. I mean, we all know who my seething love belongs to. Seung Ri <3.

hey sexy.

Poor underrated Seung Ri. Everyone always forgets about him. But how can you? He's quirky, he can play the piano, he has dark circles under his eyes, he's sometimes kind of awkward. Strong Baby's music video probably has some of the most sex appeal I've ever seen in a music video ever. Call me crazy, but it captured my soul and locked it away forever. This kid was literally KICKED OUT of the group until he was given a second chance where he basically told Yang Hyun Seok, the other members, and his competition that he was cuter that everyone else. lolpwnt. I was so mad when that skinny chick from SNSD beat him on Manwon Happiness where he had to live off of like 10 bucks for a week. But it was hilarious to watch him punish GD by making him surrender a day of eating and playing it off like it was some kind of reward. SEUNGRIOWNAGE. <3

so confident

While we're on the topic of Big Bang, I think it would be appropriate to have a little ranking, seeing as I have to prioritize who I'm going to kidnap while I'm in Korea. People talk about stalking celebrities in Korea all the time. But why stop there? I might as well go all the way and add them to my inventory. The Big Bang Hierarchy goes as follows:

5. T.O.P

K, I know this group would be nothing without T.O.P, but imo he'd be nothing without them. He's not particularly the most warming person to watch on stage. Half of his face is usually covered by shades or some spike mask (So wtf, but so badass). And he's only got about two facial expressions in his entire repertoire. I don't hate him, but the others are just too epic to put in last place here. If I'm gonna meet a Korean rapper, it better be this guy.

> T.O.P

4. Dae Sung

Just for his smile and sense of humor, I guess. And to steal his amazing voice, a la Little Mermaid. I think it's kind of strange that he's like bff with Lee Hyori. Something about her just creeps me out. But anyway, anyone who can survive a car crash like this is a trooper and deserves extra points.

3. G-Dragon (& Gaho)

Bleached hair ftw. This guy is so kooky, he looks like he's from Japan or something. His solo album was great too. He clearly showed that he's not just some average pop star that goes along with simple norms. And despite plagiarism accusations, on stage sex scandals and possibilities of prison, he stands out among all his peers. He also has a wrinkly dog, Gaho, that I want to take home with me.

2. Tae Yang

Golden boy. What else is there to say? It's impossible not to like him. Fyi, I posted this picture to show how cute this baby is. Awwwww!

lol

1. Seung Ri

Nuff said.

Day -62

Anyong haseyo!!! ^____^

Ew. That's a such a fobby introduction for my first post, but so fitting seeing as I'll soon be living in Korea for a year. As far as my old blog goes, I've kind of abandoned it. I was incredibly lazy to update it and it was kind of lacking a common theme anyway. But yeah now that I'm going to Korea in two months, I thought I might as well make a new one. Everything related to Chris going to Korea will go in here. That includes, but not limited to the following:

1. eating tons of beef. Those oh-so-special all-you-can-eat KBBQ dinners won't be so special anymore, will they? I can taste it now...
2. walking around in the treacherous snow. The last time I was in such weather, snow got stuck in my boots and my feet were numb. I think my mom put my feet on the car's heater. At least I'll experience REAL cold weather. Unlike California where cold weather is defined as 5 degrees below the average.
3. watching the seasons change. I've never seen it happen before! It's gonna be so epic. ^__^
4. stalking Korean popstars. I already stalk people on a daily basis. Tae Yang to make people jealous. Seung Ri plz for my own personal reasons. <3
5. shopping. Anything cute will suffice.
6. possible drunken escapades in Seoul. Oh, those Koreans. Making it legal for me to drink.
7. anxiety over not knowing any Korean. Except for "Anyong haseyo," "Saranghae," and my favorite obscure phrase "Michigesso." I just realized that if I said all three phrases together, I'd make a huge fool out of myself. wtg, Chris.
8. anxiety after getting off the plane and realizing that I want to go back to America and that I've made the worst decision of my life. I'll get over it though.
9. anxiety over packing during the countdown to Day 1. I've stuffed things into suitcases that seemed nearly impossible before. But at this point, every sock matters.
10. anxiety over North/South tensions. Hey, if anything happens, I may witness it firsthand. But I don't think anything will. Just a thought.
11. anxiety over everything else under the South Korean stratosphere. :(

So I leave for Korea in 61 days. I will get there on August 22. Who knows when I'll be back? Maybe during my long winter break. Maybe in June of 2011. Maybe the next day. Maybe never. But until then, I'll be back at Irvine for summer session 1. After that, I have 3 1/2 weeks to take care of everything, Korea and non-Korea related. New adventure starts now.

So... yeah.

Btw, I calculated that if I stayed from August 22 to the middle of June, I'd stay for about 300 Days in Korea. Sounds like a Korean movie, doesn't it? Yeah? Well, it probably is. Now shut your face and go see Toy Story 3.
